CONDITIONS AND SYMPTOMS
TREATED
In
British Columbia, Chiropractors are "Primary Contact Practitioners".
This means that a person can visit a Chiropractor without a referral
from a Medical Doctor. They are licensed doctors within their own
field, just like Dentists or Optometrists.
In
most cases, people will enter a chiropractor's office with a description
of their symptoms and an idea of what joint, muscle, or nerve they
believe is causing their problem. Usually, they are not necessarily
far from the truth. However, most chiropractors use slightly different
terminology to describe these problems. The term "SUBLUXATION"
is used to describe a scenario including varying degrees of poor
joint mobility, joint and soft tissue inflammation, connective tissue
degeneration, muscle dysfunction, and irritation of the neighboring
nerves. Generally, patients present with some form or a subluxation
that chiropractors are specifically trained to treat. These subluxations
often have the potential to cause other problems if left untreated.
